Community Grant Priorities

WCCF is a relatively young foundation with limited unrestricted funds available for Community Grants.  Therefore, it is necessary to determine which grants might have the greatest impact in meeting the needs of Warren County.  Projects should focus on:

  • Innovative approaches or making significant improvements in solving Warren County problems
  • Maintaining a proactive awareness with the ability to respond to creative ideas
  • Preventing problems rather than treating symptoms of problems

Grant priorities include:  Education, Human Services, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Citizenship, Environment, and Economic Development

Community Grant Application Process

The first step in applying for a Community Grant with the Warren County Community Foundation is to submit a pre-application letter for your project.  Pre-application letters will be reviewed by WCCF's Grants Committee.  If the project meets the guidelines and funds are likely to be available, you will be asked to complete the Warren County Grant Application form.

WCCF awards grants in two cycles per year.  The pre-application letter deadline for each cycle is as follows:

Grant Cycle 1:  Pre-applications letters are due in the WCCF office by
4 p.m. on the third Thursday in January for funding in April.

Grant Cycle 2:  Pre-applications letters are due in the WCCF office by
4 p.m. on the third Thursday in May for funding in August.

2.  Provide a detailed description of your project including the targeted group it will benefit, the amount of funding requested, and the projected time line.

"Mini" Grants
In order for the Foundation to react in a more timely matter to needs in the community, the Board has appropriated funds to the Mini-Grant Program.  The Mini-Grants Program is for requests of $250 or less with a 30 day approval process.  Established grant policies and exclusions will still apply.  If you have a project that fits within our regular grant guidelines, please submit a Mini-Grant Application Letter.  This letter is a one page summarization of the proposed project, the targeted group it will benefit, the amount of funding requested, and the projected time frame to complete the project.  The grants are made on a “first come, first served” basis, until the funds have been expended for that calendar year.
